favorite new software

Wow all i have to say is i'm really impressed by Songbird. The UI is right up my ally if you couldn't already tell. Great branding and they have a Drupal powered website BTW... All this has got me thinking about the Bryght powered Backstage distro/ module combo. The Itunes store always managed to turned me off but i really see the power of it when you package it in firefox and you have a bunch of nice sites that come as preinstalled bookmarks. Anyways remind me to tell the CBrecords guys about this...

The freestyle art manifesto

Appropriated from the world of the hip hop freestyle, freestyle art is a means by which to transform a moment into a creative spark. Interdisciplinary in nature freestyle art is distinctly spontaneous, weather it is abstract, graphical or illustrative.

Freestyle is a medium born of the street, the freestyle artist is hands on; unapologetic and unafraid to take on challenging subject matter. Influences include the mural, calligraphic line work, typography, graffiti and other urban detritus. From the subversive nature of The Secret Art of Doctor Seuss to a kinky drawing etched on a bath room stall, or scrawled on the back of a business card, the freestyle artist signifies a world in flux.

Taken to an extreme freestyling is a method in which any material can be useful in creating a piece, the more challenging the particular circumstances of making the object; the more spontaneous, the more vibrant and true to our lives it becomes. This is the way the successful freestyle piece contextualizes its self, becoming in the process more then just visual, illustrative or representational subject matter. Freestyling is a dialog, a back and forth, a conversation or a puzzle between the art and artist. This is why to be successful, intriguing, challenging, or in short a successful piece of freestyle art, there are the rules of engagement.

A word about cross browser compatibity

OK so here's the deal, i would love to have full support for all browsers but it's really just not practical. For instance, I just don't have time on my personal site to support those people still using i.e. for mac. Besides i shouldn't have to tell you there's a bunch better browsers for mac and its really time you upgraded. If your still on dial up why don't you try firefox, its only a 4.7meg download. As for i.e. for pc, I'll do my best to make sure that my designs, are within tolerances, but aren't you tired of all the spyware, viruses, annoying pop ups and in general a lackluster browsing experience? Even with SP2 on XP there is still something missing. Trust me you deserve better and its time you tried something new, I promise you making the switch is far less painful then you think...

Fame4art Redesign, finally.

Ok, ok, i know its taken too long to get this redesign back up, but i was busy, really. So whats been up you ask? Well a lot. Mostly web design related, a lot of what seems like building my base to use a term. When it comes to LAMP and opensource, i've really been taken by Drupal. Drupal is the perfect blend of clean modular code and flexiblity to build a wide variety of websites, and its getting better every release. Painting has been on the back burner, but a new gallery will soon be featuring my work, more on that later...
